Ultra-Fast Measurements of Roadside NOx Pollution

Urban abmient NOx measurement

Join Jamie Parnell in discussing a fast response instrument for “instant” measurement of ambient [NO]. This new device which has a T10-90% response time of 100 milliseconds and sensitivity down to 5 parts-per-billion will be shown in use in roadside applications (identifying individual passing high-emitters) but also on-board moving vehicles performing “chase” studies of the vehicle in front. The measurements show very rapid rise times of much faster than 1 second as the pollution plume arrives at the sample point, but of relatively slow decline as the pollution disperses more slowly. Measurements of cabin air quality indicating the pollution from vehicles in front of the subject car are also discussed; their levels indicating the raw tailpipe emitted from various vehicles being followed.

Using fast response gas analyzers for combustion and RDE measurements

An overview of how fast response gas analyzers are used for various applications such as cold start, catalyst heating strategy, fast EGR measurement and on-board NOx measurement for RDE applications.

The New CSA: The Fastest Response Measurements of Engine Solid Particle Size, Number and Mass Emissions (above or below 23 nm)

Pinpoint exactly where in the cycle where your solid particle emission problems are... The new Catalytic Stripper Accessory for the DMS500 Fast Particle Sizer provides a simple means to convert new and existing DMS systems to measure only the solid particles from engines legislated for in Euro 6 and beyond. The CSA removes volatile and semi-volatile particles, using a minimal total dilution factor of just 5, giving vital sensitivity for post DPF and GFP measurements. Crucially, the entire system of 7 m sample line, CSA & DMS (with dilution) has a time response (T90-10%) of just 300 ms (with 10 Hz data), making the system the ideal tool for research and calibration optimisation. Losses of the solid particles are kept to a minimum, and can be automatically corrected for in real-time. As the system returns the whole particle size spectrum from 5 nm to 1 micron, it can be used to study the sub-23 nm particles, which are proposed to be legislated for in the forthcoming Euro 7 legislation. In this webinar, Dr Jon Symonds gives a detailed introduction to the whole system, and presents validation and engine data.

Cambustion DPG: the Automated DPF and GPF Testing System

The Cambustion DPG is a system for the complete automated testing of Diesel and Gasoline Particulate Filters. Based around a Diesel burner and accurate flow bench, the DPG facilitates testing of GPFs and Light, Medium and Heavy Duty DPFs at full scale flows and temperatures, with the capability to load soot, regenerate the filter and conduct flow tests. The DPG is used in both Quality Assurance testing and for R&D applications.
