Aerosol Science
Cambustion Aerosol InstrumentationSince 2002 Cambustion have offered a range of aerosol instruments designed for aerosol science & laboratory applications. The launch of the Centrifugal Particle Mass Analyzer (CPMA) further expands Cambustion's range of aerosol instruments. The flexible sampling capabilities and and rapid response times of Cambustion's established DMS500, DMS50 and SCS systems make these highly suited to aerosol laboratory work, an application which has grown significantly as the research community seeks to update older equipment (e.g. SMPS). |

Electrical Mobility Size Distribution MeasurementsThe SMPS (Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer TM) by TSI is an example of a scanning instrument offering electrical mobility measurements, using a Differential Mobility Analyzer (DMA) and Condensation Particle Counter (CPC). Such a system offers excellent sensitivity, but requires around 60-90 seconds to make a single measurement. Cambustion's DMS series instruments offer real-time electrical mobility based particle size/number spectra. The Engine Exhaust Particle Sizer (EEPS TM) and Fast Mobility Particle Sizer (FMPS TM) instruments made by TSI operate on a similar principle. The DMS500 and DMS50 offer excellent sensitivity at the small end of the size range. High charging efficiency and low diffusion losses through the use of sheath flows and high sample flowrates make the DMS Series particularly attractive when particles smaller than 50nm are to be measured.
Since the purpose of real-time instruments is to study rapidly changing particle spectra, Cambustion’s DMS series products are carefully designed to achieve the fastest possible fluidic response time and fast data rate (As low as 200ms T10-90% response time, and 10Hz sampling / 0.1 second resolution).
Together these make the Cambustion DMS series the solution for studying transient aerosol phenomena. The fully integrated dilution system and classifier interface seamlessly, with full control, measurement and data correction of all flows.

Centrifugal Particle Mass AnalyzerThe Centrifugal Particle Mass Analyzer (CPMA) is the latest addition to the Cambustion aerosol science range. The CPMA allows direct classification of ultrafine particles according to mass, while its high transmission efficiency makes it attractive for a range of aerosol science applications.
