DMS50 Aerosol Size Spectrometer
Cambustion Aerosol Instrumentation
Since 2002 Cambustion have offered a range of aerosol measurement instruments designed for engine development applications. The flexible sampling capabilities and and rapid response times of Cambustion's DMS500, DMS50 and SCS systems make these highly suited to aerosol laboratory work, an application which has grown significantly as the research community seeks to update older equipment (e.g. SMPS).

Electrical Mobility Spectral Measurements
Cambustion's DMS series instruments offer electrical mobility based particle size/number spectra, with response times as fast as 200ms T10-90%.
With optional integrated dilution for sampling high concentration aerosols, heated sampling systems for sampling wet aerosols and high sensitivity for ambient measurements, the DMS500 is used in aerosol laboratories around the world to measure particle size distributions in the range 5 nanometres - 2.5 microns.
The DMS50 unit offers similar features to the DMS500, in a smaller and lighter package. With built in 12V DC capability, the DMS50 is perfect for mobile or field studies.
Both instruments offer unique real-time lognormal fitting, a feature which is of particular use when sampling artifical aerosols with narrow gsd.

Filtration Efficiency Studies
Many aerosol experiments involve comparing the input and output of a piece of equipment.
The unique Dual Sampling Accessory for the DMS series allows electrical switching of the sampling location between two points- for example upstream and downstream of a filter.
Tobacco Smoke Measurements via Smoking Machine
The SCS accessory for the DMS500 offers the unique ability to reproduce real-world dynamic inhalation profiles (for example from an inhaler or cigarette) while recording size spectra.
The SCS operates in Constant Volume Sampling mode, allowing straightforward and accurate integration for total mass and number.
